Description:

The Dixie Center at St. George began its life with the ribbon cutting on March 14, 1987 at the campus of Dixie College (now Dixie State University). Built to support the residents of Washington County, the facility had an auditorium, arena, swimming pool and multi-purpose areas for sports and various recreational pursuits. In 1990, the Dixie Center hosted over 140,000 people with events such as the country band Alabama, Ballet West, the Harlem Globe Trotters, an Amway convention, and Dixie College basketball games. Both community member and visitor alike enjoyed the Dixie Center for many purposes.
